Turner prize winning British painter Chris Ofili will have his work on display at Tate Britain, an exhibition that will run until 16 May. Highlighting Ofili’s experimental, cross-media artwork, Tate Britain will feature some of the artist’s greatest works, including his two 1996 works, Afrodizzia and The Holy Virgin Mary, as well as Blossom (1997) and No Woman No Cry (1998). These pieces highlight his ability to blend hip-hop culture with traditional folklore and spirituality; a truly rare skill.

Ever since I was about fourteen years old I have wanted to be an artist. However, it took me until I was around seventeen to actually take my dream seriously and start learning what I needed to learn. I believe that many of the greatest artists were not just talented, which is of course a requirement, but they were also passionate about art and ready to learn about art so as to improve.

Sharks have had far too tough a time of it if you ask me. They have been demonized, made out to be killers whose only purpose is to eat human-beings on a daily basis, and generally treated very badly. The fact is they simply get it wrong sometimes, and wouldn’t you if your eye-sight wasn’t all that and you got a crook in your neck from constantly having to look up all the time?
