Poster artwork by John Alvin
John Alvin has designed a multitude of movie posters. The range is quite large from cartoon covers such as for the 1997 film cats don’t dance about cats that want to get into show business to Arnold Swarzneggers Raw Deal action movie. The covers cover quite a repartee as well as styles.
Imagery includes photography such as the cover for Rainman featuring Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman in 1988 to futuristic designs for movie covers such as for the movie Alien in 1997.
The choice and style of the imagery exemplifies the movie and plotline sufficiently to make you want to go t expend time and effort to see the movie. In cats don’t dance the characters are colourfully and play fully interdisposed. The characters seem in awe of the main characters who smile and look hopeful in their dream of becoming famous. They seem blissfully and naively determined to not let prejudice such as the movie’s title of “cats don’t dance” get in their way. The main characters expression of hopefulness is not even marred by the formidable bouncer/security card in the background looming over them.
Arnold Swarznegger with his imposing form expresses the title of the movie successfully in the “Raw Deal” movie. As the text states boldly no one gives him a raw deal. The exposed muscles in high definition show why no one in their right mind would want to mess with such a figure of testosterone and manliness.
The pairing of two A list stars both nice to look at with many admirers photographed walking side by side is all the imagery many would need to go and see what these popular actors are up to in their latest movie of the time.
