I have never felt more insecure on planet earth before. I have a strange feeling with the way the world looks today. Today we have sufficient number of nuclear bombs to destroy the planet multiple times. There are nations threatening to Nuke each other and I am talking especially about the situation developing in the Middle East. It seems like the conditions in the Middle East are ripe for a war which could even lead to third world war.

And if that was not enough we also have global temperature at an all time high. The temperature increase in the last 100 years is more than ever in the history of Earth. Global warming is real and it has already caused major natural disasters in 2011. As per research, the reason for the rise in Global temperature is due to excessive use of fossil fuel. There have been many demonstrations by environmentalist asking to shut down Oil companies. But as we all know, our dependence on fossil fuels is not going to end very soon.

Finally the third major problem we face is the financial meltdown. Since recession first surfaced in 2008 we have heard a number of times that we are out of it, but time and again we hear its coming back again and have already affected some countries. I wonder if what happened to Greece could happen to the whole world. The recent riots in London were even though wrapped under resentment towards police, but in reality was mostly about poor people getting their hands on things they are sure they cannot afford. And these things were not necessarily very expensive items, even cheap clothing. With these three major problems engulfing the earth, I wish there would be another planet where I could move to, a planet where there would be peace and calm.

Tattoos have been around since possibly man began to become aware of himself and his environment. Tattoos have always been a form of self expression and a sense of belonging among other things. People have been getting tattoos of different things and that of animals such as tigers, lions, and birds. Even mystical creatures are very popular and one of the most well known ones these days is that of the Phoenix.

The Phoenix is a mystical bird representing rebirth. It gives out its own body in the form of fire and it gets reborn right afterwards, rising from the ashes. For that reason it is used in many areas like movies and books, but it is also used as a tattoo.

The size of the Phoenix tattoo is not as important as what it represents to you. It will definitely make people stop and ask you about it as it represents endurance and great strength while it is a beautiful bird in the same time.

It is often made by people who are trying to start over or who had something in their life what made them ‘reborn from the ashes’. However it is also asked for as a tattoo from many people because it is a beautiful symbol of many things and the only limit of it is your imagination. Creating very complex ideas from your mind into reality is also something only skilled tattooists can do. When you decide to have a tattoo, you should ask around about the best tattooist.

Many tattoo artists use some form of power supply and will need gas from reliable gas oil suppliers to keep their business afloat. This is so since without power the artist will not be able to work.

If you do not have a formed idea about what you want, you can search online for some examples and you may find a tattoo that will take your heart and make you fly.

When I think brides, I think of cup cakes. Brides are always decked out in floofy dresses with huge skirts and in crazy bridal fabrics. Lace, tulle, and glittery oddities can be seen from every angle, and most guests end up having to shield their eyes from these terrible sights.
Who is it who is going around telling brides that they need to do this to themselves? You know that when you need someone to help you go to the bathroom, or someone to help you get dressed that you’ve chosen the wrong bridal fabrics altogether. Surely it makes more sense to wear something that’s comfortable–after all, comfortable can look good, too!
Being comfortable in your dress also means that you won’t be grimacing in all of your photos, and that you won’t need to walk around tugging up your dress all the time. If your bridal dress fabric weights as much as you do, then there’s really something wrong with your fashion choices.
Ah, brides. They’re perhaps the biggest fashion victims in the world. Those dresses cost thousands of dollars, perhaps because of the ridiculous amounts of fabrics involved. Perhaps if brides cut down on the size of their dresses they’d have plenty saved over for a party or something a good deal more fun than attempting to walk around in a dress that’s three miles long and just as many wide.
If you’re a bride, don’t succumb to the pain and suffering that is lead-like bridal fabric. It’s your special day, but there’s no need to torture yourself over it!

If you’re a fan of Dragon’s Den – please don’t ask me what DD is; if you don’t know then you’ll know someone who does – then, more than likely, you’ll have heard of Four Rooms: the show which sees collectors pitting it against one another in a bid to get the best price for all kinds of items. And when I say all kinds I mean it. One week it could be a book made out of human skin – sheared off a man who was hung for murder in the eighteenth century, no less – and the next it might be a deck chair that Bob Dylan smashed up when in a wild rage (I made that one up, but for all I know it may well exist).

right now I can’t tell if I am captivated by the poor people who get ripped off each and every week, or the smug faces of the collectors as they lose out on something they were really looking to acquire

…Basically, it’s an interesting show. But does that make it a good show? Hm, well I am still undecided…

The problem with Four Rooms for me, you see, is fairly fundamental. What irritates me about it is what irritates me about the climate of art: the fact that the collectors don’t base their opinions on anything particularly solid – like in Dragon’s Den – but instead base their pricings on ridiculous notions, such as who the item was associated with or who happened to have owned it for fifteen minutes once in 1977.

There again, I’ve been tuning-in since the start, so I suppose it must be captivating me somehow. Trouble is, right now I can’t tell if I am captivated by the poor people who get ripped off each and every week, or the smug faces of the collectors as they lose out on something they were really looking to acquire.

My scepticism and criticism isn’t entirely unjust, of course. Given the fact that all kinds of silly money has got the UK into more than its fair share of trouble in the last few years – and this money has come from investors who are no doubt associated with the banks and the upper echelon of English society – I think I have every right to be dubious about what these so-called ’experts'value seemingly ordinary items at.

For all kinds of fascinating objects which fetch crazy money – some because they happened to be owned by office furniture london when Mick Jagger happened to simultaneously breath on them – watch Four Rooms and prepare to be astonished about what some people will pay for what I would say is complete and utter trash!

Back when I was growing up there were a few adverts on TV which were pretty cool, or at least I thought so at the time; such as the Milkybar advert. It featured a cowboy who was about my age, and who loved chocolate just as much as I did. Therefore it was deemed instantly cool in our house. My mum and dad spent way too much money on chocolate, I can tell you…

Through the 80s, cool adverts came and went, but when the 90s arrived…oh dear, things took a sudden turn for the worst. With special effects in film suddenly becoming more accessible to the advertisement making masses, the ads started to get way over the top. Very soon they were beyond corny, and soon after that came the advert horrors…

Window adverts with a man dressed up as a troll, toilet cleaner adverts which attempted to be sexy…and those were just two. I was sure that was how things were going to stay, until, in early 2000, things started to change again: and thus the cool advert which was actually quite entertaining to watch was born!

And it was about time!

Finally the ads were just funny and simple: to the point. The creators were no longer trying to baffle us – instead the approach that was quickly becoming fashionable was to be straight-up and just honest. Even my friend Doug Hyde , who works in marketing, is surprised by this change.

And now we’re just hoping this is the way things will remain…

Some people think that being a graffiti artist is pretty cool. I can see how they would think that, but the reality isn’t always the case at all – in fact, sometimes you’re literally existing on a knife-edge. It’s not necessarily the best way to live your life, I can tell you.

I don’t paint illegally anymore, but I used to. We had a few regular spots we would go to, and that was all fine until one day my friend Ted started moaning at me again to go and paint the train.

The train he was referring to was an old battered one that was obviously not in use anymore, and something that the commuters saw whenever they left the station or entered it. That was why Ted wanted to mark it, and so, to shut him up, against my better judgement, we hopped the fence with our stuff.

It was just getting dark and by the time I made it to the train Ted had already started. He clearly had something in mind already and—

“Oi!”

The voice came out of nowhere…and suddenly all the custom signs me and Ted had painted came rushing back. The man wasn’t alone, either, he had a dog with him. A big one, and he wasn’t security either, he was police.

I was faster than Ted, as he had his paint out on the floor, and so I made it to the fence first. It was close between the dog and Ted, but somehow he just made it to the fence in time and got his leg over as the hound jumped up.

I haven’t seen the policeman or the dog since that day, but as I go to sleep I still hear him saying: “we’re gonna get you!”

London offers an endless number of graffiti spots, many of which are considered an eyesore to the general public. However, some people who appreciate abstract art have started to appreciate certain types of graffiti and stencils for their artistic style.

A notable graffiti ’hotspot’is Old Street in East London. This can be reached via the Old Street tube station and is located near to London’s famous Shoreditch district, a popular area for artists and creative professionals. The city’s graffiti scene has a lot of similarity to that of other European urban areas, such as Paris and Berlin. The Camden Market, close to a hospital offering paternity tests, benefits from its graffiti, as it livens up the market’s character and improves the aesthetic image of the area’s industrial buildings. Other areas include east London’s Liverpool Street and other areas of Shoreditch, where entire buildings have been decorated with graffiti symbols and images of famous figures of the past.

The relevance of graffiti and its acceptability in public surroundings mostly depend upon the audience of the area itself. For example, if someone found it dotted all over the buildings on Park Lane in Mayfair, it would be highly controversial. However, graffiti at the Stockwell Park Estate in south London would generally be more appreciated by the local students and younger professionals that tend to reside in the Stockwell/Clapham area.

Meanwhile, police have continued to arrest people for defacing properties in the city by repainting over tags that have been removed by locals. It will remain a controversial topic, however as it is an important symbol of the right to freedom of expression, the art of graffiti will continue in the future.

So I was able to tear myself away from my search for paid surveys UK long enough to sit down and read a book I have wanted to read for a while now. That book is ‘Tick Tock’. Here is what I thought of it.

Now ‘Tick Tock’is the latest novel (the 4th) by James Patterson, which was released January 24, 2011 and has gained a wide readership since then.

The story is a race against time. Its leading character is Michael Bennett, a NYC detective with a big family which includes his children, his adoptive children, his grandfather, an Irish priest, and the children’s nanny. Michael is a widower.

As Michael and his family were enjoying their time together at the beach, they find themselves targets by bullies who are well known and with connections in the neighborhood. While trying to deal with the problem, Michael is suddenly faced with the case of a serial killer who is roaming free in the city.

To add to the plot is Michael’s romantic attraction with two beautiful ladies – Mary Catherine, the nanny, and Emily Parker, an FBI agent and Michael’s old crush.

How Michael finds the solutions to his problems in the family, at work and love life are in this novel which is a quick read. The book chapters are short and full of suspense. It is fast paced you can finish it in less than a day, making you want to read more. That it will get you hooked from start to finish is a guarantee.

Post-Impressionist artist. Paul Gauguin is a Frenchman who is thought to be among the best the world had ever seen. He had an important role to play as a Symbolist and as a sculptor, painter, printmaker, and writer.

The title of the show at the Tate on Gauguin comes from the artist’s role as mythmaker; it has been further split into three sections: the first is the focuses primarily on the artists own self-mythology; the second, on the people whom were his subjects during the Tahitian phase of his work; and the third, which focused on those myths that sprung up after he died.

The third myth is, perhaps, the most dominant in the present-day attitude towards Paul. His reputation has not enjoyed the height it deserved due to various reasons; it might be because of “over-familiarity” with the work he produced, post-colonial distaste over his methods, and possibly uneasiness over his sexual tendencies.

It was over fifty years ago that Gauguin had a major show in Britain. The “Gauguin: Maker of Myth” show is an attempt to change the mindset of people towards this artist and to introduce many others to his brilliance.

The show opens with a series of self-portraits stretching across several years and diverse periods in the Paul’s life. No updated colour graphics to be seen here in any of the portraits. The show shows the development of the artist from disappointment with the biggest Impressionist of his era, and then how he finds himself and the ensuing self-expression towards the exotic. Paul fashioned his mania objects and revered ideas of himself, and delicately incorporated them within his art.

Discarding the customary chronological recepie, the ‘Gauguin: Maker of Myth’ spin thematically around Paul; the work is arranged in a number of rooms. It is also arranged around central spaces looking into Paul’s life and influence.

We’ve played five gigs over the last week, and there’ve been stag dos at every single one of them. Ordinarily, we’d try to avoid this. Stag dos have a bad reputation for being drink fuelled displays of masculinity, woefully manifesting themselves in oikish behaviour and lewd comments aimed at passing females. As a woman in my twenties, I normally bear the brunt of this sort of “banter” on account of my position on the stage and characteristic low cut top.

Nevertheless, over the last week I have found that stag dos can be quite civilised affairs. The first group, whose names I have forgotten, were clearly only at the venue to talk to one another and were slightly peeved by the arrival of a band, several hundred watts of amp and an enormous crowd of fans. Still, they clapped with the rest of the crowd and not once did they mention my chest.

The following day, the stag do was a bit rowdier. We were playing in the smoking area of an extremely popular pub, and these lads had clearly been drinking since around noon. Still, they could remember their names (and each other’s) when they introduced themselves and were very receptive of our more upbeat numbers. According to security, three of them bought the CD.

The last three stag dos were of a similar standard. Drunken, yes, but ultimately well behaved. I think that the idea of the stag do being the night before the wedding isn’t popular anymore, but it is probably still worth staying in the good books of your bride to be.
